Gabon made the perfect start to Group C with a routine victory against the debutants Niger. Two first half goals proved enough for Les Pantheres who looked comfortable throughout the game.
Spurred on by a sold out crowd at the Stade de l’Amitié, Gabon took the lead in the 30th minute when Stephane N’Guema delivered a looping cross from the right hand side of the pitch that was met by the head of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. It was a solid header by the talented front man, but Niger’s goalkeeper Kassaly Daouda was …

With the African Cup of Nations dawning on us, it only seems appropriate that I must tell you what Gabon’s prospects are in the tournament, which they are co-hosting. In Group C, Gabon will be facing Niger, Morocco, and Tunisia. Whilst Niger is unlikely to pose Gabon any real threat, Morocco and Tunisia are fine footballing nations, both featuring in the 2004 final. So who are the players that are likely to fire Les Pantheres to glory?
Didier Ovono

Being a Goalkeeper, Ovono is more likely to be fighting the fire for …

Gabon have been eliminated from the African Cup of Nations after suffering a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Zambia.

Goals from Rainford Kalaba and James Chamanga ensured victory for the Copper bullets with a late strike from Gabon’s Marcolino providing a tense finish, however in the end Zambia were worthy of their win.
It was the worst possible result for Gabon as they were eliminated on goal difference and leap-frogged by Zambia who qualify in first place and Cameroon in second, who were held by Tunisia. All 3 clubs finished level …

Gabon go into their last first round fixture knowing that a draw will be sufficient to ensure qualification to the quarter finals.
If they lose to Zambia they shall have four points, and if Cameroon win against Tunisia, Cameroon shall have six and Tunisia just the two. If Tunisia win their last game they shall have five points and shall progress with Zambia who shall also progress with five points due to the tournament head to head rules.

Daniel Cousin

However, all these permutations will be unnecessary if Gabon continue their fine …

In apparent exercise in cold pragmatism and negativity Gabon and Tunisia played out often boring 0-0 draw today on a rain soaked Lubango pitch. The point gained assures Gabon of top spot in Group D and puts them in pole position for the quarter finals however a win would have guarenteed Gabons progression to the next round for only the second time.

Tunisia now must beat a resurgent Cameroon to ensure African Cup of Nations activity. No easy task.
Goal scoring chances were at a premium and both teams flooded the midfield stifling …

Choosing not to pre-release their new  kits until the actual African Cup of Nations fixtures may seem strange but at least it provided a little bit of excitement before the drab draw against Tunisia.
Although Gabon have opted to continue their relationship with Airness, the Parisian based sportswear company the design is a little different from their qualifying attire.

Where-as before the home shirt was mainly yellow and blue now it is  yellow with green flashes at the stomach and the Gabonese national flag incorporated across the chest. Again the national crest is placed at the …

Gabon can seal qualification to the next round with a win against Tunisia on Sunday, how many would have predicted this before the tournament started?

The 1-0 win against Cameroon may have shocked many bar those who had a keen eye on the recent World Cup/African Cup of Nations qualification campaign. Undeniably Gabon rode their luck at times, especially in the second half, but just as surprising as the result was the manner in which Alan Giresse’s team went about their business.
Choosing to attack straight from the whistle their early endeavour …

Gabon recorded one of the best results in their history by beating tournament favourites and 4 times winners Cameroon 1-0 in the African Cup of Nations today.
Despite being on the back foot for the majority of the game the Gabonese managed to hang on to their one nil lead that came through a 17th minute strike from captain Daniel Cousin.
The result is the latest in a series of upsets with all the top teams in the first round of African Cup of Nations matches managing to lose or drop points …

The away team kit for Gabon on the African Cup of Nations shall not be the same as used during qualification.
Gabon chose to release the new kit at their first ANC game against Cameroon.

The shirt shall be mainly white with the blue, green and yellow flag across the chest and the shorts and socks will be white.

Alike the home kit the away kit shall be designed and produced by the Parisian based sportswear company Airness.
Instead of the more athletic and tight design alike Puma the Airness shirts shall be more baggy and …
